is
a ten minute Spanish-language video featuring Hispanic clinical
research volunteers who have cancer. The video details the
clinical research process, including the different phases
of testing and questions to ask before participating in a
study. The video emphasizes the importance of Hispanic participation
in clinical research to advance medical science. This educational
tool can be played in your waiting room or you can give copies
to potential clinical research participants and their families.
This video was produced from the ground-up in Spanish, as
opposed to taking English interviews or text and translating
them into Spanish. In addition, great consideration was given
to the cultural diversity that exists within the Hispanic
population in the United States. This is reflected in the
diverse panel of physician experts and patients used to produce
this video. Hispanic experts at major academic centers, grassroots
community Hispanic health centers, patients and physicians
from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Columbia, Costa Rica, and Peru all
collaborated in the production of this video.
