CISCRP Clinical Trial Registries Survey

Survey Executive Summary

During the summer of 2005 CISRP conducted an online survey which included over 4,500 participants.  The goal of the survey was to gauge public opinion and use of online clinical trial registry information.  Some of the findings include:

  • 40% of respondents who visited online listings for clinical trials found them easy to navigate and were satisfied with the quality and quantity of the information
  • 90& of survey participants were either patients or family friends while the remaining 10% were healthcare and clinical research professionals
  • 40% of people who took part in the survey were first time users
  • 53% of all respondents said that they would prefer one central registry location while 47% said that they would prefer separate registries with links to one another
  • 45% of the people who found a clinical trial nearby eventually contacted the research center conducting the trial
