This coming October, CISCRP will be hosting its fourth AWARE for All event in Boston. The free event has historically attracted between 300 and 500 attendees with more than one-third coming from minority communities in the Greater Boston area. The event will be held at the Curry Student Center Ballroom at Northeastern University on Monday, October 27th from 5PM to 8PM and will feature free health screenings, informational exhibits, presentations from prominent Boston medical professionals and patients involved in clinical research, as well as free food and giveaways. Funding for this event is provided by CISCRP’s national AWARE sponsor EMD Serono, Inc., a subsidiary of Merck KGaA Darmstadt, Germany, and local sponsors Harvard School of Public Health, The Fenway Institute, Fenway Health, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, section of diabetes, Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center’s Initiative to Eliminate Cancer Disparities. This free event is open to the public; however, advanced registration is strongly encouraged through www.awareforall.org or by calling 1-877-MED-HERO (1-877-633-4370).
“My goal is to find ways in which we can build sustainability in our community in awareness, patient advocacy, and ambassadorship. AWARE for All provides a platform for meaningful dialogue to engage our diverse communities and promote an understanding of available treatment options so people can make well-informed decisions,” explained Dr. Karen Winkfield, Director of Hematologic Radiation Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Ken Getz, Founder and Chairman of the Board at CISCRP added, “Boston has been a great city for the AWARE program. We’re excited to be returning to the area to provide this much needed educational program and to recognize those who give the gift of participation in clinical research.”
We hope to see you at AWARE for All Boston! To register and/or volunteer, please visit www.awareforall.org.
