Key Findings from this Year's Study

Helping others is the #1 reason people join clinical trials.

As in past years, altruistic drivers continue to be the top reasons for participation in clinical trials, with 50% participating to help advance science and 40% participating to help others who may suffer from their same disease/condition.

Social media can be a gateway to clinical research

1 in 5 clinical trial participants first learned about the participation opportunity online, most often via social media.

Trust in pharma lags behind other organizations involved in clinical research

Only 18% trust pharma companies ‘A lot,’ compared to 46% who trust site staff and healthcare providers ‘A lot.’
